Ruins plastic, fouls ceramic
"We have used Cascade for years with no problems, but this product ruined our plastic and rubber kitchen utensils, turning them white, and fouled our Lennox ceramics. Fortunately several baths in vinegar and a wash in a competing product got the ceramics back to normal, but the plastic and rubber items are ruined.
I've seen the other reviews and responses and we do not have a problem with temperature or water pressure, nor have we had a problem with the competing detergent now that we have switched, so this is a formula issue, and not one worth living with.
P&G you should have tested this product more!"

The new forumula stinks
"The "NEW" Cascade STINKS. I was the old formula back. We even bought a new dishwasher thinking the old one wasn't working good any more and the new does the same thing. I just read on the box, in tiny tiny print, "phosphate free". It's also "FREE" of doing a good job. It's horrid, doesn't get all the food, leaves a cloud/film on everything. We've added a water filter, new GE dishwasher, brand new water heater to boot and now I find out it's your product not doing it's job.
I've used Cascade for 25+ years and now I'm completely dissatisfied

I'm sorry after 25+ years you're so disappointed in Cascade. Our products did recently undergo a formulation change to comply with state and local legislations that require that automatic dishwasher detergents contain no phosphate. While our Cascade products are formulated to deliver the excellent performance that you have come to expect, water hardness and other factors may sometimes have an effect on cleaning. For best results fill both cups as directed or if you have hard water try the Cascade Action Pacs or All in 1 Pacs. If you use a rinse aid, we recommend that you check and make sure the rinse aid dispenser is full. Hope you find this information helpful.

Dishes get cleaner
"I had been using another dish detergent and I was getting spots on my glassware, etc. I could not believe my old trusty detergent had let me down, so I purchased Cascade Gel-Caps. Lo and behold the first time I used them, no spots. That cinched it for me. No more old trusty anything."

Great Product, but don't store in hot weather
"I absolutely love this product and think it works very well. However, the ony thing I can say is that if the weather is very warm and you don't have your A/C running, the cubes tend to melt together into one big clump and it's hard to get them apart and they break easily when they end up this way. Other than that - love this stuff."

Expensive lesson
"After a service call for $89.99 I learned the reason all our dishes were coming out with a film on them was the "phosphate free" change in packaging. Unfortunately, I now have to use another brand to correct the problem."

I'm sorry you had the expense of a service call. Our products did recently undergo a formulation change to comply with state and local legislations that require that ALL automatic dishwasher detergents contain no phosphate. While our Cascade products are formulated to deliver the excellent performance that you have come to expect , water hardness and other factors may sometimes have an effect on cleaning. Here are some things you can do to prevent filming in the future.

•Water temperature should be at least 120 degrees F. Run hot water at kitchen sink before starting the cycle.
*If using powder or gel fill both detergent cups as directed.
•To prevent low water pressure, run dishwasher when no other water is being used (showers, grass watering, washing machine).
•Use Cascade Rinse Aid, which allows soils to be more easily loosened and rinsed away.

I hope you find these tips helpful.

What has happened to Cascade?
"I have used Cascade in my dishwashers exclusively for the the last 27 years and loved it until my last purchase a month ago. I purchased a pack of Cascade Complete All in One Action Pacs, the same product I have been using for quite some time. My dishes no longer look or feel clean at the end of the cycle. My white mugs have tea stains, all the plates feel coated. The stainless isn't clean. I have run 2 to 3 loads a week for the past month, same results every load. This is not the Cascade I have been using for 27 years! The dishes look like I only ran the rinse cycle, not a wash cycle. I have had full loads, small loads, daytime loads and overnight loads. All with the same result, dirty dishes!
I am so dissatisfied, I have purchased another brand before finishing all that was left in the package. It's either use a different brand or wash by hand.
What is happening to P&G's products? Where is the quality that consumers have come to trust? This is not the first P&G product to fail me. Others include Gain detergent, which leaves bleach like stains on my clothing and Iams and Eukanuba dog food, which my dogs refuse to eat.

frustrated
"I can't review your product because I can't get the freakin lid off. You, like other companies today, have no regard for seniors with arthritis in their hands or diminishing eyesight. I can't get the safety lid off of Liquid Cascade and I can't read the instructions on the top of the lid without going outside into the sunlight. You are so bent upon the "prettiness" of your containers. I am probably going to take this back to the store today."

I'm sorry you had trouble opening the tub of Cascade Action Pacs. Our packages are designed for the safety to our consumers as well as to keep them secure during shipping. To open the tub:
Pull green tab until it comes off of the lid. Pull up on lid and open.
Hope this helps!

Didn't work for me
"I have been using Cacade products for years and have been very satisfied. Recently I purchase Cascade Complete powder and my dishes came out with a white residue on them. I thougfht the problem could be with my KitchenAid dishwasher so I had it checked out and there was no problem. I purchased another box of Cascade Complete thinking maybe there was something wrong with the first box. I was finally forced to change to another brand of dishwasher detergent. I am very disappointed."

Action Pack Packs a punch
"I LOVE the Action Packs, they are the best when it comes to clean dishes and fresh clean smelling too. They all come out of the dishwasher squeaky clean and shinning. This is the best product I've used ever. I tried a generic brand recently because money is tight since I'm on disability but I had to wash them all a second time and that was even after I had soaked them all first before loading the dishwasher. It's worth it to pay a little bit more to save on water and electric and time. It has never failed to do a Great job washing All the dishes."

I'm sorry your recent Complete All in 1 Action Pacs didn't completely dissolve. What you're describing is unusual because ActionPacs wrappers are actually made of a highly soluble material, just like translucent pill wrappers. To prevent this:
•Clean away any loose plastic from plates before adding to the dishwasher
•Make sure no items are blocking the dishwasher sprayer arms.
•Low water pressure. Be sure no other water is being used - like showers, grass watering, laundry machine.
•Low water temperature. Shouldn't be below 120 degrees F, so before starting the cycle run hot water in the kitchen sink.
•Store in a cool, dry place and use within a few months of purchase.
•Don't store under the sink, especially if it is near the dishwasher.
Give these a try and let us know if that helps!

My Hubby's Favorite!!
"I absolutely LOVE your Cascade Complete All-in-1 ActionPacs! The dishes come out shiny and there are no streaks. The dishwasher smells fresh and clean and I never have to rewash anything! They are so easy to use that my picky husband can run the dishwasher!!! In face, he has taken over both loading and unloading and has commented on how clean the dishes are! I'll NEVER buy anything else!!! Thank you Cascade!!!"

What do you have to say now?
"So, I buy a package of the Cascade Pure Essentials Tabs and after 3-4 washes my pans start turning black on the outside. I come here and read how this has happened to numerous folks and the company reps say it is due to the phosphate free formula and aluminum pans are not dishwasher safe. WRONG WRONG WRONG. I also have a box of FINISH tabs which occasionally leave a white powder residue on the load but NEVER turned my pans black. So I figured I would check the label....guess what?
FINISH IS PHOSPHATE FREE ALSO AND DID NOT TURN PANS BLACK.
I understand aluminum pans are not dishwasher safe but for a company to say, Oh its all the pans fault, is ridiculous. Thousands of people have been using them in the dishwasher for many many years without them turning black so the fact that Boom! we change detergent all the sudden they turn black is the pans fault or our fault for putting aluminum in the dishwasher? When another brand does not turn them black? I don't think so.

Action Pacs
"I have a two year old GE Profile Dishwasher and both times that I have used these pacs they have never totally desolved in the main dispenser. I've had to scrub the blue and green stuff out. They seemed to clean everything well - but I just couldn't deal with the stuff totally not desolving. I'll stick to the liquid Cascade."

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. All of our Cascade products have been thoroughly tested, and this is very unusual. ActionPacs wrappers are actually made of a highly soluble material, just like translucent pill wrappers, designed to easily dissolve. Some things that can effect the dissolving include any items blocking the dishwasher sprayer arms, low water pressure, low water temperature (below 120 degrees F), product not being stored in a cool, dry place or not using the product within a few months of purchase. I am sharing your comments with the rest of the team, and if you need further assistance, please call our product experts using the toll free number on the back of any Cascade product. Thanks again for sharing!

Poor Product
"I have used regular cascade on my aluminum pots for years but when I used the action pacs with dawn they all came out black. What happened to the quality control?? I read the replies from Cascade about about some aluminum not being dishwasher safe but I have always put mine in the dishwasher with no problems. Only the gel pacs have discolored them. Very dissatisfied!"

"I received a sample of the Cascade Action Packs and thought, "Ok, it was free, I'll use it." I didn't have any expectations when I put the Action Pack in the dishwasher.
However, when I went to put away the dishes....WOW! the difference was immediately evident. SHINE! No residue. The dishes felt cleaner. I even giggled to my hubby that I felt silly for being so excited about the results of dishwasher detergent.

HATE YOUR PRODUCT
"I TRIED CASCADE COMPLETE WHEN I DID BECAUSE I WAS LOW ON MONEY AND HAD A COUPON. I HAVE TO SAY I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. I HAVE TO RECLEAN MY POTS AND THEY ARE IN THE BOTTOM BACK WHERE THE POWER CLEAN IS. AND, I USE A CAMPING METAL COFFE POT TO MAKE MY ICED TEA WITH, IT DOESN'T EVEN GET THE TEA STAIN OUT. WHEN I WAS USING FINISH THE METAL IN IT WAS SO CLEAN IT WOULD PRETTY MUCH SHINE.
PLUS I DON'T HAVE TO RECLEAN MY POTS.
I KNOW A PRODUCT IS NOT GOING TO PLEASE EVERYONE BUT I JUST WANTED TO GIVE MY OPINION.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

I'm sorry you didn't get the results you expected while using the Complete All-in-1 Action Pacs. I'm not sure which type of metal your coffee pot is made out of, but I can tell you that it is not usually recommended to clean most aluminum, brass or copper coffee pots in the dishwasher. I'd love to help further if you would be kind enough to share some additional information. Thanks for writing!
