Poor Product

"Product leaves an unsightly white residue scum and does not clean well. We often rewash everything by hand which defeats the purpose of a dishwashing machine."

Leaves scum

"If putting Dawn in dishwasher soap worked, I could just put Dawn in my dishwasher. But you can't. This stuff leave bubbles in my top of the line Bosch dishwasher that will not wash out. We really don't like the stuff!"

Not pleased anymore

"Over the past year to year and a half, I have not been pleased with Cascade. Not only do my dishes NOT come clean, but there is a white scum on my black utensils and pots/pans. When I use a competitor brand, I get much better results. I have been using the Cascade with Dawn, because I LOVE Dawn. But the two together, NOT!!! I think that I am going to go back to the competitor, because at least I will be saving water by not having to rewash everything."

Cascade Powder w Dawn

"I have used Cascade powder (& gel) since my parents got their first dishwasher in the 70's. I'm also a former appliance repair person and have years of experience with them. I bought my Cascade from the big-box warehouse store and my black cooking utensils are now gray. Our glasses are spotty and have a film on them. Our 5 YO dishwasher is a top of the line stainless steel unit so most likely that is not the culprit. In the public water line we have a whole house filter and a softener. I regret to say the only recent change is the dishwashing detergent (gel to powder) and in Cascade's formula. I don't agree that it is green or any cheaper to remove the phosphates from the detergent when homeowners are both hand washing after their dishwasher s done."

Hope the dishes aren't ruined permanently

"I've used Cascade forever. Our Bosch dishwasher wants us to use powder rather than gel, and the last box I bought was Cascade with Dawn. Half the dishes or more end up COVERED with white residue, which is very hard to remove, even with hand scrubbing. It doesn't seem to matter how much I use. My wife finally insisted I throw the box away. I know phosphates have been eliminated, but I might as well wash them by hand from the outset, since I wind up hand washing them anyway.
What I don't understand is how P&G could release this product without, apparently, testing it with some dishes and pots and pans. I worry about whether this has permanently damaged any of our dishes or even our dishwasher. This is really, really, really bad."

Not Satisfied

"I have been a Cascade user ever since I have had a dishwasher (about 15 years). I normally use the gel, however there was a sale on Cascade Extra Action with Dawn (powder). The first time I used it, my glasses, plates and silverware were covered in spots and when I soaked them in my sink to wash them, the spots did not go away. After getting a new dishwasher, I thought that I should try the detergent again and yet again, the dishes came out spotty and would not come out. This dish soap has ruined my expensive dishes and I would not recommend the powder to any person. It leaves a foggy film all over the dishes and it will not come off."

Might As Well Discontinue

"I've used Cascase for years & it worked great! Not anymore!
Not only does it leave the dishes dirty, it adds a disgusting white residue on everything & now it's crystalizing on the inside of my dishwasher.
I am currently running a 3rd cycle on the same set of dishes & am FED UP!
I've tried different types of Cascade, as well as other brands to no avail. Essentially, my dishwasher has been rendered useless, not to mention disgusting!
I know about the recent formula change, but if this is the best this product can do, it needs to be discontinued."

Horrible product

"I too had the same experience where I purchased the 180oz box and ended up with a white residue on all of my dishes. Love the Cascade with Bleach gel caps since they were the only thing that would remove the residue. Extremely disappointed with the product. Tried calling the 800 number but it is not open during extended hours so unless I take the time during work to call I cannot speak to a live human."

several washing with another soap to

pourability

"I've been using this product for many years but lately the powder in the box is not pouring well. It clumps up and I had to cut the top off the box and break the powder by hand. I bought the very large box with 20% bonus but the last 20% was stuck together. So much for a bonus."

some good some bad

"I have been using powdered dishwasher soap then one day thought of trying the liquid. It did not help for cleaning the dishes or keeping the dishwasher free of water spots. I keep trying things to help the fact that we have hard water and maybe it is the cause of the problem, but so far the only thing I have found to keep water spots off is using a combination of a product called lemi shine with your current liquid or powder cascade. I myself do not like the way my dishwasher leaves dishes when I use liquid so I preffer to use either cascade complete or one of the other cascade products. I do have one problem, I have had the same issues with the flatwear and Knives as I have seen here. The issue with that is that on the packageing of the silverware it says not to use any citrus dishwasher products on them for it will damage the metal and cause rust spots. So if you like the cascade but not the rust spots check your silverware packaging or use with no lemmon or orange sent. I know this goes against what I just said about using that lemi shine, but if I have to choose between cloudy dishes or small rust spots, I would rather have the rust spots,or just wash them by hand. The lemi shine is one of the best things I found to get the white soap dirty look off the dishes. So until cascade chooses to do something about the way the liquid or gel pacs I will be keeping my powder which works way better anyway. Honestly the rinse aid in the soap is a better way to keep both worlds happy. That is just my suggestion. Not every town and dishwasher is going to react the same to the same soap. It is the water content you need to look at."

Cloudy glasses

"We've used Cascade in our dishwashers for several years with good results. However, after using half of our first box of Cascade with Dawn and Shine Shield, our glassware started looking cloudier and getting worse with each washing. We have city softened water and have never had this sort of problem before."

It corrodes silverware

"I've used Cascade for years with great results, but Cascade with Dawn and Shine Shield (I can't get the regular Cascade) is eating my silverware. I used the usual amount it left little rust spots on both the new and older stainless steel silverware. I cut the amount of Cascade in half, and that eliminated the rust, but the dishes aren't as clean."

Missed the mark - Big Time

"This product is awful. It leaves a powdery film, water spots, and/or stains on my dishware, utensils, glassware and mugs. It won't remove tea or coffee stains on my mugs. It has discolored my silicone cooking utensils and doesn't work as well as the original product. This says it has Dawn in it but it doesn't remove grease either. I believe in going green but what's the point if I have to rewash or rinse everything again? I don't like the fact that I have to purchase a rinsing agent to use along with this product in my dishwasher. It is an added cost I don't feel I should have to make just because this product doesn't work as well as it should. Please bring back the original product formula because it worked."

Totally unsatisfied!!!

"My husband and I bought this product because it was a great deal but as soon as we used it we discovered it was not worth it!!! I shouldn't have to rewash my dishes after getting them out of the dishwasher!!! It left terrible soap residue on most of my glass cups, our plates, bowls and silverware! My mom used this for years and I thought that it was a great product sad to say I was let down and the quality has changed for the worse throughout the years."

I do not want you to rewash your items in the dishwasher! Here are some tips to help with what you're experiencing.
Here's how to remove film from your dishes:

1.Fill both detergent cups with white vinegar and run one wash cycle without adding detergent.
2.REMOVE ALL METAL ITEMS from the dishwasher first and wash them by hand. (Vinegar is too acidic for metal items, but is safe for stainless steel dishwasher interiors.) Then run the glasses/dishes through an entire cycle with no detergent.
3.Run through another cycle, using Cascade to remove any vinegar residue.

Tips to prevent this in the future:

*If you have hard water try Action Pacs or All in 1 Pacs.
*Water temperature should be at least 120 degrees F. Run hot water at kitchen sink before starting the cycle.
*To prevent low water pressure, run dishwasher when no other water is being used (showers, grass watering, washing machine).

We would hate to lose you as a customer. Silver can become tarnished sometimes when washed in a dishwasher. Even if silver or silver plate is considered dishwasher safe, many manufacturers recommend washing by hand. If you do wash in the dishwasher, silver will be likely to tarnish faster and will need to be polished more often. I hope this information helps. If we can answer any other questions for you please call us at 1-800-765-5516.

Stains aluminum

"I've always used Cascade as did my mother. Always worked well. I picked up a box of powdered Cascade with Dawn as it was the only powdered Cascade they had. Didn't read the fine print one sentence on the back of the box that said may discolor aluminum. So now have very old measuring cups, cookie trays, and roasting pan that look ugly as sin. You should have that warning displayed more prominently, especially for those of us who have always trusted the brand name."

Thanks for being such a loyal Cascade consumer. I will certainly get your comments to the Cascade package division. I do have some recommendations to remove the discoloration. Our products are now phosphate-free, as required by new legislation across the whole industry. One benefit of Phosphates in dishwashing is its ability to help protect the surface of metals. With the removal of phosphates, discoloration on aluminum may now occur faster than before. It can be as fast as 1 wash when before it was over a longer period of time.

While it is difficult, it is possible to remove darkening. Try these steps:

1.Use a good aluminum (metal) polish on the pan.
2.Then boil a cream of tartar solution (2-3 tablespoons cream of tartar to1 quart water) in the pan for 15 minutes.
3.Finally, scrub with a soap pad.

It may also be helpful to know that discoloration does not affect the food being cooked. I still put my aluminum items in the dishwasher as I know my food will be fine. I hope this information helps. If we can help you farther please call us at 1-800-765-5516.

Left a LOT of film

"I have purchased many Cascade products in the past, but haven't bought powdered in a long time. I was very disappointed with this product as well. All of my dishes came out with a film that was difficult to hand wash off my clear glass. I hate to be wasteful, but I had to discontinue my use of this product, because I would have to rinse and wash each dish after it going through the dishwasher. I've tried mulitple combintaitions to try and salvage what I purchased (ie. different dishwasher settings, rinsing every spot of food off my dishes, extra rinses, etc). All attempts left me dissastified."
